Min says Iran received no offer on oil freeze deal exception

ALGIERS, Sep 28 (PRIME) -- Iran has not received any offers to be excepted from an oil production freeze deal from OPEC, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh told PRIME on Wednesday.

“I have not received any proposals,” Zangeneh said.

On Tuesday, a high-ranking source in the Algerian delegation to the International Energy Forum told PRIME that Saudi Arabia is ready to cut its oil production to January levels if Iran freezes its oil output at 3.6 million barrels per day.

Later Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said that exception from the agreement should be made for Iran, so that it could join the agreement after it reaches the pre-sanction level of production.

He said that Iran sees its pre-sanction production at 4 million barrels per day. “The figures that we are talking about – they are the maximum possible flexibility that we have. It is 4 million barrels par day and it is the pre-sanction level of Iran’s oil production,” he said.

Still, Iran hopes to sign the production freeze agreement until the end of the year, he added.
